1. The Member shall, at the first reasonable opportunity, advise every employer of any terms, conditions and limitations that apply to the Member’s license to practice if their employment is in the field of Respiratory Therapy. 2. The Member is prohibited from monitoring and supervising students from all educational facilities while on duty at their place of employment. 3. The Member is prohibited from performing clinical competency C7 (Execute Resuscitation) until which time proof of successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) according to the current standards of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) according to the current standards of the Canadian Pediatric Society is received by the NBART. 4. The member shall only perform the following competencies in the adult population for the purpose of gaining competence in that procedure if performed under the direct supervision1 of a NBART member with an Active license to practice until which time proof of competency is demonstrated as described by the NBART: i. C4.1 – Manage Airway-Intubation ii. C4.1 – Manage Airway-LMA iii. C4.2.1 – Suction Artificial Airway iv. C5.1,5.2,5.3 – Perform Anesthesia Assistance v. C6.2 – Initiate Invasive Ventilation vi. C6.2 – Initiate Non-Invasive Ventilation vii. C9.4 – Manage Adult Transport viii. C10.2 – Manage Arterial Lines ix. C10.3 – Arterial Puncture 5. The Member is prohibited from performing the following clinical competencies in the neonatal and pediatric populations except for the purpose of gaining competence in that competency and may only be performed under the direct supervision1 of a NBART member with an Active license to practice until which time the member organizes and completes a clinical training program in neonatal and pediatrics with a minimum duration of one hundred and fifty (150) hours. The member will be required to submit all material used during the training program that demonstrates competency and allows the NBART to assess the need for any required ongoing terms, limitations and conditions. i. C3 Administer medication and substances ii. C4 Manage airway iii. C5 Perform anesthesia assistance iv. C6 Provide optimal ventilation assistance v. C8 Administer cardio-pulmonary diagnostic tests vi. C9 Perform adjunct therapies vii. C10 Perform invasive vascular procedures 6. The member shall complete the NBART Continuing Competency Program for Respiratory Therapists pursuant to the NBART Continuing Competency Program Manual. All credits required and proof of credits must be submitted to the members online profile prior to March 31, 2025.
